Harry Moseley was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2007. During Radiotherapy he met a man who had the same illness called Mr Robert Harley who was 55. Harry and Robert became good friends following radio and stayed in touch. After about 12 months Robert got really sick with his brain tumour and Harry visited him in hospital. When we came away Harry said "mom I have to find a cure for brain cancer to get Robert better and so that no one is poorly like me".
With that in mind Harry set up Helpharryhelpothers by making beaded bracelets to make and sell to raise more for brain cancer research. At first he started sitting outside supermarkets etc but then as Robert was a businessman and inspired Harry, he decided to take his campaign to another level and launched a 'schools initiative' whereby Harry visits schools delivering his own powerpoint presentation in the hope that schools set up their own bracelet making club and for every bracelet that is made and sold within that the school, 15p goes to the schools fund and the rest goes to brain cancer research. More importantly he inspires kids to get involved. Harry also visits businesses and does speeches at large events to help raise awareness and funds for Brain Cancer Research.
In just over 18 months Harry has organised and done over 60 events raising over £36,000 for his own campaign but has also partnershiped with Cancer Research UK and his videos and speeches have helped them raised over £453,000 which will all go to brain tumour research projects.
Harry, like a lot of children and despite having cancer, works tirelessly and selflessly to ensure that one day no one has to go through what he has. I am very very proud of Harry and his constant achievements. As a result he won 'Britains Kindest Kid' and also 'Childrens Champions Awards'. Although he is my son he is my best friend and my hero and I hope he continues to stay strong and help others.
Sadly Harry lost his battle with brain cancer on October 8, 2011. Rest in peace, Harry!
