Kelsey was diagnosed in September 2010 (11 years old) with PNET Brain Tumour. To date she has undergone 3 brain surgeries, 31 radiation treatments to brain and spine and is just about to complete 6 months of chemotherapy. We are very fortunate as all treatments have so far been successful. The surgery in October 2010 caused her left side to become paralyzed, however, she is regaining strength and feeling on her left side and her vision in her left eye is almost back to normal.
In June 2010 Kelsey had participated in a walk-a-thon at her school to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. Kelsey ended up being the top earner at her school, little did we know, we would be needing the Ronald McDonald House just 3 months later after Kelsey was diagnosed.
This summer, the Ronald McDonald House is holding the walk-a-thon and Kelsey plans to participate again, even while suffering through chemotherapy. It makes us so proud that Kelsey continues to think of other children and their families even while she isn't feeling very well.
So far, Team Kelsey has raised $10,000 for the Ronald McDonald House and we hope that amount is even higher by the time the walk-a-thon happens.

So proud of my daughter, throughout her diagnosis and treatment, Kelsey has stayed strong and focused. From the first day of diagnosis, Kelsey has always reassured me that everything was going to be ok and that she was going to be fine, she wasn't sure how she knew this, she just did. Very proud of Kelsey for wanting to help the Ronald McDonald House and other children and families in need - all of this even while suffering through chemotherapy treatments. I love you Kelsey . . . . you have inspired me and so many others. Post a Reply |
