Enjoy a wonderful day as we gather in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for a day of fun and learning about giving. Heroes from the web site will be stationed throughout the store discussing their projects. There will also be fun, games and big surprises throughout the day. And don't miss our special guest, ex-NFL star Levar Fisher as he speaks to everyone about what it means to be a true hero. |

Mini Football Camp |

|
Children in
grades 4-8 are eligible to participate in the Kids Are Heroes mini-football
camp, instructed by an ex-professional football player! That's right,
Levar Fisher is going to run a mini-football camp in the morning right in
Boyd's Bear Country! (Actually the bears aren't invited so this
activity will be outside.) The cost is only $30 per child.

Give a Bear, Get a Bear |

Teach your children
how wondrous it is to give back. We will be again hosting a Give a Bear, Get a
Bear event where your children can raise money to purchase and create bears
for Bears on Patrol.
For each child who purchases at least two bears at the discounted rate of
$25. each, that child will get one to keep. This
activity will take place on the third floor, near the Boyd's Super Duper

Visit each hero stationed throughout the store and get to know each one. Play a game of "football" with them as each hero will hand you a score. The top 5 people with the most points will win a prize. |

| The kind folks (and the bears) at Boyd's want to recognize each hero from the web site with a certificate. These heroes have traveled from all over the country (and even Canada!!) to be here. They will be introduced by adults who are heroes in the community. Mothers bring your tissues for this one! | |

Levar Fisher |

Levar Fisher will
speak to everyone about what it means to be a true hero. You and your family
will NOT want to miss this. There will be other BIG (and I mean BIG!!!) surprises too! Kids Are Heroes partner Levar Fisher played in the NFL from 2002-2004 for the Arizona Cardinals, then in 2005 was signed by the New Orleans Saints. A devastating knee injury ended his career prematurely, but he soon found his calling by motivating kids to make the right choices. In Levar's own words: What I’ve learned on the field is to never allow anyone to claim my attention…except the one that I’ve already tackled in my mind. I’ve learned that real power doesn’t come from the heart or even from lifting weights – it comes from placing belief in yourself and trusting your maker. And, I’ve learned never to be ashamed of an honest mistake – because honest mistakes are useful teachers. I personally have had plenty of those “useful teachers”—enough to motivate a room full of corporate leaders, enough to inspire an army of volunteers, and enough to captivate an auditorium loaded with restless teens. I’m not on the field anymore, but I’m passionately using everything I have to help my team win, and my team now…is simply everyone within earshot. |
